Robotics is one of the most promising technologies around. Given its rapid development, we must fully understand the state-of-the-art beyond fake news or assumptions scarcely grounded in reality. We analyse what we mean by 'robot' and what forms it takes in different contexts and for different purposes. We range from industrial robotics to plant-inspired robots, returning to anthropomorphic machines, designed particularly for assistance and entertainment. What challenges do robotization experts face? What are sensors? What physical limitations and what concrete disadvantages?
