Teaching on demand

1 October 2024 – 31 May 2025

CUBO presents its teaching on demand catalogue, seven two-hour lessons by seven professionals looking at specific aspects of seven school subjects. These online meetings offer secondary school students and anyone interested the opportunity to analyse and explore topics and interesting facts related to Music, Technology, Sciences, Ecology, Geography, Digital Citizenship and Economics under the guidance of experts who combine a passion for study and research with enthusiasm for sharing and dissemination. You don't need to book in advance for any of the meetings.

AT THE SCHOOL OF ECOLOGY

How can we respect the planet in our daily activities? What can we do individually, faced with the challenge of the century? We build a big tomorrow from a small today. All we need to do is act now: from plants that improve our habitat to recycling and reusing food and other waste to best practices that give our planet a breath of fresh air. Handbook for little and big ecologists.

With Lucia Cuffaro

EXPLORING THE ECONOMY

Economic education affects the lives of everyone, every day and at almost every moment. Yet the average citizen doesn't know enough. This lesson provides basic concepts of economics and financial education. It aims to generate interest in the subject that participants can build on even after the course because 'If you don't deal with economics, economics will deal with you'.

MIGRATIONS.

Since our earliest days, we humans have embarked on large and long migrations because of our curiosity, restlessness and basic needs. Indeed, the history of our species is a succession of movements and discoveries, often linked to natural events and out of necessity. This meeting will examine the causes of human migration, understood as both a natural and cultural phenomenon. The aim is to answer broadly and in-depth the question 'why do people emigrate'?

With Riccardo Canesi

DIGITAL IDENTITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.

Today, Citizenship and Digital Identity are topics we must explore and understand to develop a proper and comprehensive civic awareness. The environmental impact of the internet and what we do with it is one of the often misunderstood aspects of digital activities. Did you know that sending an email releases some carbon dioxide into the atmosphere? The same is true for a simple Internet search. This meeting explores the environmental impact of our actions in the digital sphere, aiming to make us fully aware citizens, even when it comes to our digital identity.

NUCLEAR FISSION, DATA AND MISINFORMATION

Generating energy without depleting the planet's natural resources or producing waste harmful to the ecosystem is now one of humanity's most significant challenges. This meeting sheds light on what nuclear fission research can offer while clearing the ground of prejudice and misinformation on the subject.

THE MEETING OF WORDS AND MUSIC

All cultures arise and develop through movement, encounters, and fusions between different components: sometimes conflicting, sometimes peaceful fusions, which in the hands of creative artists become opportunities to express new forms of thought, emotions, and world-views. When we use words, we can express our thoughts clearly. With music, we use another type of communication in which emotions come into play differently. By combining these two means of expression, we can articulate something deeper: a perfect fusion between the sound of voice and instruments, the meaning of the words and the vibration of the instruments.

FANTASTIC ROBOTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

Robotics is one of the most promising technologies around. Given its rapid development, we must fully understand the state-of-the-art beyond fake news or assumptions scarcely grounded in reality. We analyse what we mean by 'robot' and what forms it takes in different contexts and for different purposes. We range from industrial robotics to plant-inspired robots, returning to anthropomorphic machines, designed particularly for assistance and entertainment. What challenges do robotization experts face? What are sensors? What physical limitations and what concrete disadvantages? How do the environment and cultural and individual diversity fit into the robot debate?
