On a day as important as 25 April, reflection is a duty. Even for those who 'only' do sports. However, reflecting cannot and must not mean merely celebrating a liturgy. A critical view, even of a beautiful thing like sport, is the only antidote to a generalised levelling which feeds on externalities rather than content. This levelling, says journalist Federica Sgaggio, means that simplicity "has contributed to creating an aura of social disdain around complexity". Providing a 'simple' solution cannot mean negating facts and reflections in the debate, but should rather enrich it with all the necessary perspectives.
