From 10 September to 13 October in Bologna, CUBO presented the second exhibition of “IMPRESÆ DA RACCONTARE" (Recounting Enterprise), entitled “Fire risk and the evolution of insurance protection in the Unipol Group" and curated by the Historical Archive.
In 2018, the CUBO Historical Archive proposed an exhibition focusing on protection against fire damage, one of the oldest forms of insurance cover. In fact, the first specialised companies were established in northern Europe in the 17th century; in Italy, the first public limited liability fire insurance company was the Insurance Company of Milan established in 1825.
The exhibition presented materials such as plaques, documents, policies and posters from the Historical Archives thanks to the collaboration of the Technical and Liquidation Area of the Unipol Group, the Historical Museum of the Fire Brigade of Milan and national and international appraiser offices. The timeline of the exhibition summarised the historical phases of fire insurance, offering visitors the opportunity to retrace the history of this particular insurance segment. The exhibition presents images and documents as testimonies in the history of man's struggle against fire and the damage it causes.
The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue and a dedicated app with an audio guide and secured the patronage of the European Union as an event of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
